Description
The BMP-1P is an upgraded variant of the BMP-1 "A variety of upgrades are available: improved tracks, spall liners, air conditioning, smoke generator launchers, laser warning receivers, & more powerful engines. French SNPE ERA & other kits are available but are hazardous during dismounted operations. Additional armor may jeopardize amphibious capability. Kornet ATGM launcher can be mounted on other BMP-1 variants. Russian AGS-17 & AG-30 30-mm automatic grenade launchers are also available. A key limitation for BMP-1s is the 1-man turret, but BMP-1S can be upgraded to 2-man turrets."

BMP-1 is the first mass produced, tracked IFV of the erstwhile USSR. It is the first variant of the now obsolete BMP model designed in 1966. Considered to be the world's first true IFV, it is also a radical departure from the armoured vehicle designs of the USSR since the Second World War. With over 55,000 BMP-1s and variants having been produced, it is numerically one of the most significant armoured vehicles produced across the world.
