Description

The Indian Navy Next-Generation Missile Vessel (NGMV) is a new class of high-speed missile boat featuring stealth technology and offensive capability against surface vessels and land targets. These vessels will be equipped with BrahMos supersonic anti-ship missiles and VSHORADS surface-to-air missiles. Besides, these vessels will be equipped with a 76mm OTO Melara Super Rapid gun, two AK-630M close-in weapon systems and two 12.7mm machine guns. The NGMV will be powered by a single LM2500 gas turbine and two diesel engines developing a top speed of 35 knots in a Combined Diesel And Gas (CODAG) arrangement. The Indian Navy plans call for the procurement of six vessels beginning in March 2027. The procurement contract was awarded to Cochin Shipyard Limited in March 2023.
