Description

The Mihail Kogalniceanu class river patrol boats have been designed domestically to patrol the Danube river on behalf of the Romanian Navy. The propulsion system features two diesel engines allowing for a top speed of 21 knots. The weapon system includes two 100mm tank guns (most likely derived from T-55 tanks), two twin 23mm guns, two quad 14.5mm machine guns, two 40mm grenade launchers and two SA-N-4 air defense missile launchers. The Romanian Navy commissioned three Mihail Kogalniceanu boats in the 1990s.
