Description
The People's Liberation Army (PLA) HQ-6 is a mobile, short-range, air defense system developed independently by China to counter airborne threats in the close range flying at low-to-medium altitudes. This air defense system along with its detection and tracking radar have been integrated onto 6x6 wheeled truck systems providing high mobility. Each HQ-6 air defense system features a vehicle with four Aspide/LY-60 ready-to-fire surface-to-air missiles (SAM) and another vehicle with a seven-barrel 30mm cannon (Type 730) along with the radar fire control system. The HQ-6 missile system was unveiled at the China Air Show in November 2014.
