Description

The Avangard Glide Body has been designed to glide back down to Earth from altitudes of 100-200 kilometers at hypersonic speeds of up to Mach 28. The Avangard can carry a variety of single nuclear devices ranging from 2 Megatons (Avangard rocket) to 750 kilotons (Sarmat). The Avangard Glide Body was first introduced as the warhead for the Avangard Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) in 2019. Thereafter the Avangard hypersonic warhead has been adapted to the Sarmat ICBM in 2023 and the RS-26 Rubezh ICBM by the late 2020s.
