The General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems Light Strike Vehicle (LSV) is a vehicle specifically designed to fly internally the United States Marine Corps (USMC) MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft as well as the US Air Force CV-22 and CH-53 and MH-47 helicopters. Also known as the Internally Transportable Vehicle (ITV), it will be used in a variety of operations such as reconnaissance, raids, Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel (TRAP), airfield seizures in support of Over-the-Horizon amphibious operations, Irregular Warfare and Enhanced Company Operations (ECO). This high mobility, weapons-capable platform can carry enough fuel, water, ammunition, and food for a 3-day mission, while safely transporting a crew of four. It can be equipped with an M2 .50-cal. The first LSV was fielded in early August 2009 with the USMC 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment in preparation for its deployment with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).
