Description

The Sahar is a fully Autonomous Robotic Route Clearing System developed jointly between IAI, QinetiQ North America and Watairpoll to handle a variety of tasks, missions and threats autonomously. The system is designed for the efficient performance of combat engineering missions and route clearance as well as landmines and explosive devices neutralization. Besides, the Sahar performs environmental terrain mapping, surveillance, removal of road blocks and disposal of IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices). This remotely-controlled platform is fitted with smart terrain awareness sensors and an autonomous maneuvering and manipulator module. The Sahar unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) was unveiled at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International ( AUVSI) exhibition in Orlando, Florida May 2014.
