Description
The Yu-74 is a hypersonic glider being developed for the RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) ordered by the Russian Strategic Missile Forces. The Yu-74 was first tested in April 2016 carried by a RS-18A missile. Each Sarmat ICBM may be equipped with up to 24 nuclear loaded Yu-74 gliders which may act as electronic warfare or decoy in addition to the nuclear warhead role. Released from the Sarmat these glides will allow to reach targets located 6,200 nautical miles in less than one hour.
