Pyongae-6
Pyongae-6
The Pyongae-6, unofficial/prospective name, is a new ground-based, long-range air defense system developed by North Korea and showcased for the first time in October 2020 during a military parade in Pyongyang. The system has been designed to take out targets at distances exceeding 200 kilometers with an overall performance similar to the Russian S-400 weapon system. It is assumed that the unnamed air defense system has better performance in heavy electronic warfare (EW) environments and can engage more targets simultaneously than the Pyongae-5 weapon system. The new long-range air defense system was developed, most likely, with technical assistance from Russia and/or China. The new Pyongae-6 is the successor to the Pyongae-5 ground-based air defense system.
