Description

The COBRA is a modular, mobile fire-finder radar designed to locate enemy artillery units through analysis of shell trajectory. It can locate mortars, rocket launches and howitzers with pinpoint accuracy relaying safely and rapidly critical information to battlefield commanders. In addition, the COBRA radar system provides prediction of shell impact points, adjustment of friendly firing, battlefield intelligence, and jamming data. The COBRA system consists of a high performance radar, an advanced processing system, and a flexible command, control and communications (C3) system to provide enemy artillery location critical data to friend indirect fire units in order to be countered. All the COBRA elements are mounted on a single 10t truck/carrier vehicle requiring only a crew of 3 to run the whole system. It can locate up to 40 artillery sites within 2 minutes. The COBRA system can be ready to operate in less than 10 minutes once the carrier vehicle stopped, and moving in just 3 minutes. The COBRA counter-battery radar meets the needs of Germany, France and the United Kingdom. Its advanced design allows to be integrated into existing defense networks achieving enhanced performance.
