Description
The Miecznik, also known as Project B106, is a new class of multi-purpose frigates designed to meet the requirements of the Polish Navy. These ships are based upon Babcok’s Type 31 class frigate through a modification known as Arrowhead 140. The PGZ-Miecznik Consortium comprising Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, PGZ Stocznia Wojenna and Remontowa Shipbuilding will build three vessels to be delivered by 2034 under a contract signed in July 2021. These ships will be powerd by four MTU 20V8000 engnes develiping 8,200-KW each along with four 12V4000 generators providing 1,650-KW each.
