Description

The Rauma class of fast attack crafts have been designed to perform coastal defense missions in the Baltic Sea environment employing RBS 15 anti-ship missiles and a 40mm naval gun system. These 200-ton class vessels can developed a top speed of more than 30 knots powered by two waterjets and are especially well suited for the littoral environment. Finland developed these all-aluminum hull ships because they are almost invisible in terms of electronic surveillance. Six Mistral surface-to-air missiles provide a limited anti-air warfare capability. The Finnish Navy procured four Rauma-class missile boats beginning in 1990 through 1992 built by STX Finland.
