Description

The Grob 120, also known as G 120A, is a side-by-side twin-seat, single piston engine, acrobatic and training aircraft designed to provide basic and advanced flight training for military customers. The G 120A is the successor to the successful Grob 115/ G 115 aircraft which was introduced by Grob Aerospace in 1987. The Grob 120 airplane maiden flight was carried out in 1999 (G 120) and at the end of 2000 (G 120A). The first production aircraft entered service in July 2002 with Lufthansa Flight Training, the launch customer, which operates six aircraft on behalf of the German Air Force in Phoenix, Arizona (USA). The G 120A features a high strength, corrosion-free airframe entirely made of carbon fiber composites, long fuselage life, lightweight construction and cost effectiveness thanks to low fuel and maintenance costs. All in, this aircraft is well suited for primary flight training, high-performance acrobatics and IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) training. It is powered by a 6-cylinder 260-hp Lycoming piston engine which allows a +6/-4 g maneuvering load factors according to FAA and EASA certifications. So far, the Grob 120A trainer has been ordered by the Air Forces of Canada (G 120A-C), France (G 120A-F), Germany and Israel.
