Description
The Roisin class offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) were designed and built in the United Kingdom by Appledore SB shipyards for the Navy of Ireland in the late 1990s. The 1,700-ton class ship's propulsion system features four diesel engines developing 11,780-bhp and a top speed of 22 knots. The weapon system includes an OTO 76mm dual purpose gun and two 7.62mm machine guns. Ireland commissioned two Roisin offshore patrol vessels in 1999 and 2001.
