MIM-104 Patriot

The Patriot is a long range, high altitude, all weather surface-to-air missile system designed to defeat advanced threats, including ballistic missiles, aircraft and cruise missiles. It was combat-proven during operation Desert Storm in 1991. Patriot can engage multiple targets simultaneously even in heavy electronic countermeasures environment. The Patriot system consists of the AN/MSQ-104 command and control vehicle (Fire Unit), the AN/MPQ-53 multifunctional phased array radar system, an electronic power plant vehicle, an antenna mast group for communications and up to 16 remote launching stations M901, each M901 contains 4 ready to fire Patriot missiles sealed in canisters. In addition, some other vehicles must be deployed with each Patriot system to supply new missiles to the launching stations, repair and other logistics duties. To date, the United States of America, the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Taiwan and Greece have purchased and fielded the MIM-104 advanced surface-to-air missile system.
