Description

The KAPLAN-MT Turkish Medium Tank represents a groundbreaking response to the evolving demands of modern warfare. Its indigenous design offers the lowest silhouette and highest power-to-weight ratio in its class, ensuring optimal weight and mobility performance. The vehicle features a state-of-the-art power pack combined with advanced electronic control systems, an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), and a heavy-duty suspension. These elements provide reliable and continuous power during expeditionary maneuvers on the battlefield, enabling effective day and night operations. Additionally, the advanced mobility system enhances user ergonomics and extends the life cycle of all mission equipment. In line with conventional tank design, the KAPLAN-MT's power pack is positioned at the rear of the platform, improving mobility and acceleration, particularly on soft soil and rough terrain. This layout allows the driver to operate the tank while maintaining a high level of situational awareness without needing to open the top hatch. This design also enables the tank's gun to achieve a significant depression angle—an advantage not available to front-engine tanks converted from personnel carriers or Armored Combat Vehicles (ACVs). The KAPLAN-MT's architecture enhances battlefield survivability through advanced ballistic protection and best-in-class mine protection systems. An active protection system can be integrated as an option, depending on user requirements. The interior design of the KAPLAN-MT emphasizes user ergonomics and crew comfort, thereby enhancing overall performance during operational tasks. The tank is equipped with day and thermal cameras, a multi-functional digital dashboard for the driver, and wide-angle optical periscopes. To enable hunter-killer capability, a high-performance third-generation sight system is available for both the gunner and the commander. Furthermore, the tank features a Battlefield Management System (BMS) and Laser Warning Systems (LWS) to provide the crew with a high level of tactical situational awareness. The KAPLAN-MT boasts a unique Anti-Armored Punch, featuring the latest generation turret equipped with a high-pressure 105 mm gun, delivering substantial firepower against battlefield threats with great speed of response. This weapon is ideally suited for both direct and indirect fire missions, including infantry support roles. Its unique capability for accurate indirect firing allows effective engagement in both open fields and complex urban terrains.
