Description

The 2S1, also known as Gvodzika, is an amphibious 122mm self-propelled howitzer derived from the MT-LB tracked chassis. NATO referred to this howitzer as the M-1974. 2S1 utilizes 2A31 122mm cannon which is very similar to D-30's 2A18 rifled gun. The Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact armies deployed widely 2S1s in the 1970s and 1980s.
