Description
The AN/MPS-39 Multiple Object Tracking Radar (MOTR) is a C-band (5.4–6.9 GHz) precision instrumentation system manufactured by Lockheed Martin in the United States. This phased array radar, operating with a peak power of 1 MW and an average power of 5 kW, is designed for range safety, weapon development, operational testing, evaluation, and multi-participant training exercises. It can simultaneously track up to 40 objects within a 60-by-60-degree scan volume, capable of tracking a six-inch sphere at ranges exceeding 120 km. Introduced in the mid-1980s at a cost of $36 million per unit, the AN/MPS-39 replaced the AN/FPS-16 radar.
