Description

The T-84 is a derivative of T-80UD diesel-powered main battle tank developed by Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau (KMDB) for the Ukrainian Army and export customers. The T-84 features a new all-welded turret, improved explosive reactive armor (ERA), thermal imaging sight, digital fire-control system, a more powerful 1200-hp diesel engine, auxiliary power unit (APU), advanced countermeasures system, automatic muzzle reference system, and navigation aids. The first prototype was unveiled in 1994 and achieved initial operational capability with the Ukrainian Army in 1999. The T-84 main battle tank underwent evaluation trials in Greece in 1998, Turkey in 2000 and Malaysia in 2000.
