Description
The FF(X) is a new class of frigate developed by Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) for the US Navy following a decision in December 2025. The new frigate is expected to be an agile surface combatant designed to engage surface ships with NSM missiles and sea drones armed with Hellfire missiles. The 4,750-ton class ship will be equipped with RAM missiles for self-protection against airborne threats. The US Navy plans call for the procurement of 50-to-65 hulls beginning in the early 2030s.
