The AN/APY-6 is an airborne, multimode, Ku-band (16.5–16.6 GHz) radar system designed for air-to-ground operations. It features synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and ground-moving target (GMT) capabilities. Operating with a peak power of 13 kW and an average power of 400 W, it has an instrumented range of 80 nautical miles (148 km) and a beamwidth of 2.2 degrees. The AN/APY-6(V) represents a significant upgrade from the APG-76(V), developed by Northrop Grumman for littoral operations and as a potential replacement for older sensor systems.
