Description
The US Army Sgt Stout, formerly Interim Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense (IM-SHORAD), is a mobile air defense system intended to deal with rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). General Dynamics Land Systems was awarded a $1.22 billion contract in September 2020 to produce, test and deliver the IM-SHORAD by 2025. Leonardo DRS and Raytheon are the main subcontractors for the program. The IM-SHORAD weapon system will be based upon the Stryker 8x8 armored vehicle equipped with Stinger and Hellfire missiles as well as a medium caliber gun. The initial order is for 28 vehicles worth $230 million.
