Jose Rizal
The Philippine Navy Jose Rizal class corvettes were built by Hyundai Heavy Industries in the Republic of Korea in the late 2010s early 2020s based upon the HDF-2600 design. These ships are intended to serve as surface combatants with some anti-submarine warfare capability and close-range self-defense capability against airborne threats. The weapon system is expected to include the Alpha 3D radar, hull mounted sonar, 2x2 C-Star anti-ship missiles, two Simbad-RC air defense missile systems, two triple mounts Blue Shark torpedoes, one flight deck for one AW159 Wildcat helicopter, a 76mm Super Rapid naval gun, two 30mm remote weapon stations and two 12.7mm machine guns. The Philippine Navy commissioned two vessels in 2020 and 2021 and is expected to complete the weapon system of these ships at a later date.
