Description

The High-Energy Liquid Laser Area Defense System (HELLADS) is a program sponsored by DARPA is a defensive laser weapon system intended to counter rockets, mortars, vehicles and surface-to-air missiles. Basically, the HELLLADS developed by General Atomics is a lightweight and compact, electrically driven solid state laser intended for tactical use onboard ships and ground vehicles. The DARPA completed laboratory tests of the new solid state laser weapon system in May 2015 paving the way for field testing.
