Description

Rh 40 DM 131 is a 155mm artillery round filled with intensive explosives developed by Rheinmetall to be fired from the PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer. Coupled with DM 92 modular propelling charge Rh 40 round has a maximum range of 40 kilometers. The German Army -- Bundeswehr -- qualified this artillery ammunition along with DM 92 charge on the PzH 2000 during live fires in 2005. In February 2006 the Dutch Army became the launch customer for the Rh 40 DM 131 round. Under a 33 million Euro with Rheinmetall the Netherlands purchased 10,000 artillery shells and 67,000 DM 92 modular propelling charges. The ammunition was ordered in support of Dutch PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers and deliveries were expected to complete by the end of 2007.
