Description

The AN/APG-81 is an X-band airborne fire-control radar with an instrumented range of 150 km, developed by Northrop Grumman in the United States for the F-35 Lightning II stealth multi-role fighter aircraft. It features an active electronically scanned array (AESA) antenna comprising approximately 1,676 transmit/receive modules. Flight tests for the AN/APG-81 were conducted in 2005, with deliveries commencing in 2007. This radar is a direct successor to the AN/APG-77, which is utilized in the F-22 Raptor.
