Kirpi Turkish 4x4 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP)
Kirpi

The Kirpi Turkish 4x4 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle is manufactured by BMC Otomotiv Sanayi ve Ticaret, a Turkish company specializing in commercial and military vehicles. The Kirpi MRAP resembles a heavy truck and is designed with armor protection. The front section of the vehicle houses the engine, while the middle portion accommodates the crew. A troop compartment extends from the center to the rear of the hull. The vehicle is equipped with mine blast-resistant seats and can accommodate up to 13 personnel, including a driver, gunner, and commander. Notable features of the Kirpi MRAP include a uni-body armored cabin, four bullet-proof windows, and shock-mitigation seats. It also has armored windshields and an emergency hatch for quick occupant egress in case of an emergency. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a self-recovery winch, smoke grenade launchers, and a jammer. The Kirpi family of vehicles provides protection against rocket-propelled grenades. Its V-shaped hull is made of steel armor, allowing it to deflect mine blasts away from the vehicle. It offers protection from armor-piercing rounds, mines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and other ballistic threats up to STANAG 4569 Level 3. The MRAP is fitted with 14.00-R20 run-flat tires and a central tire inflation system, enhancing its performance on various surfaces. The braking system includes an air-operated spring parking brake, a fully air-dry service brake system, and an optional anti-lock braking system (ABS).
