Description

The Burevestnik 2S12 is a towed mortar derived from the 2B11 120mm mortar. It is intended to engage personnel and other assets in difficult access locations such as canyons and back side of hills as well as disseminating smoke screen and illuminating the field at night. To do so the 2S12 can fire High Explosive (HE), smoke, illuminating, incendiary and leaflet ammunition. Typically the 2S12 mortar along with its intended ammunition is towed by tactical truck system or carried inside which improves the carrier mobility. The 2S12 rate of fire has decreased to 10 rounds per minute but the range and angle elevations remain the same compared with the 2B11.
