The U212NG, after Norway-Germany and Next-Generation, is the second generation of the U212 class submarine being ordered for the Norwegian Navy. In February 2017, Norway selected an improved variant of the U212A class submarine as replacement for the Ula class with the contract to be signed in 2019. Norway might receive four U212NG boats between 2025 and 2030. Italy ordered two U212NFS in February 2021 to be build by Fincantieri. A third submarine for Italy was ordered in May 2023. Germany is expected to order four more submarines in 2025-2026.
