Description
The Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile Extended Range (JASSM ER) is an improved derivative of the combat proven AGM-158 JASSM standoff missile. It has been designed to provide increased ranges over current JASSM missiles through a new powerplant and increasing the fuel loading. The JASSM ER missile is planned for flight testing beginning in 2006 entering production in 2008. The program was delayed with the first test flight carried out in 2012 and the entry into service in 2014. The US Air Force's B-1B Lancer bombers are the prime customers for the JASSM extended range missile. Subsequently, this missile will be available for other platforms.
