Description
The A321 MPA is a maritime patrol aircraft program being pushed forward by the French Ministry of Defense as replacement for the Atlantique (ATL) 2 aircraft fleet. The A321 MPA will be based upon the Airbus A321XLR long-range jetliner equipped with an array of advanced sensors and communications systems. The aircraft is expected to feature high maneuverability even at low altitude. The A321 MPA weapon system will include torpedoes and the FMAN anti-ship missile to engage submarines and surface ships. The French Ministry of Defense aims to get the new aircraft ready in the 2030-2040 timeframe.
