Description

The GEREON German Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) is a modular, medium-class robotic platform developed by ARX Robotics. Designed for maximum versatility, the GEREON family supports a wide range of missions, including logistics, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), medical evacuation (MedEvac), and direct combat. Key capabilities and roles include: • Logistics and Resupply: Transports ammunition, water, and other loads up to 500 kg to forward positions. • MedEvac / CASEVAC: Configurable for casualty evacuation in high-risk or denied areas. • ISR / Security: Functions as a mobile sensor and surveillance node, with integration options for tethered drones (such as the Elistair KHRONOS DroneBox) to enable persistent ISR. • Route Clearance and Obstacle Removal: Operates ahead of troops in contested areas to reduce personnel risk. • Training / Simulation: Serves as a moving “dummy,” target, or exercise robot for combined-arms training. • Combat Roles (Combat GEREON): Can be equipped as a remote weapon station carrier, counter-UAS/EW platform, or unmanned first-contact vehicle. The GEREON UGV series is built for modularity, allowing rapid reconfiguration to meet evolving operational requirements.

Software and Autonomy All GEREON systems run ARX’s Mithra (often stylized Mithra/Mithra OS) operating system, an AI‑driven UGV operating environment. Core functions include: Fleet‑level control and networking (“robotic swarming / teamed operations”). Over‑the‑air updates and rapid re‑tasking of platforms. Integration and coordination with other autonomous systems (e.g., tethered drones via Elistair DroneBox).

Note ARX has fielded a Combat GEREON configuration, building on the RCS platform with combat‑oriented hardware and software enhancements. Developed with Ukrainian Armed Forces and local partner Frontline, incorporating battlefield feedback from Ukraine (size, weight, ease of control, modularity, repairability). Intended as a “first‑contact” UGV to extend the distance between troops and enemy contact in high‑risk missions (reconnaissance, route clearance, forward observation). Remote weapon stations (RWS) – demonstrated with Valhalla Turrets’ LOKI RWS. Demonstrated with RWS for 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm weapon systems; electrical and mechanical capacity supports stabilized turrets and sensor masts. Mobile counter‑UAS and electronic warfare capability. Convoy protection and forward‑edge C‑UAS presence without exposing personnel.
