Description
The HPD-2 French Anti-Vehicle Mine is a high-explosive (HE), shaped-charge (SC), magnetically influenced, self-neutralizing, anti-disturbance, anti-vehicle (AV) landmine.

Arming
The landmine arms itself after an initial delay of ten minutes and self-neutralises after 30 days.
Design
The HPD-2 is described as a second-generation, high-power landmine that uses a Misznay-Schardin (MS) shaped-charge warhead to penetrate the tank belly armor up to 100mm thick.
Designed to be used with existing minelaying systems, such as the Matenin landmine-burying system, the HPD-2 consists of two modular subassemblies.
It also incorporates an anti-handling device, which is sensitive to motion and the signals produced by metal detectors.
Fuze
One is the fuze section, which contains the magnetic influence sensor, the laying safety, the self-neutralising system, the power supply (two batteries), a pyrotechnic safety and the arming mechanism.
