Description

The YLC-2 is an L-band (1240-1400 MHz) 3D air surveillance and acquisition radar, potentially derived from the AN/TPS-59 due to antenna similarities. Its 7m x 9m phased array antenna electronically scans in elevation while rotating in azimuth, comprising 54 vertical rows of solid-state power amplifier modules, topped by an IFF/MSSR array. With a peak power of 85 kW, an average power of 5.5 kW, and an instrumented range of 330 km, it offers a range resolution of ≤ 300 m and an accuracy of ≤ 100 m in range and ≤ 0.3° in azimuth, capable of tracking up to 100 targets via three display consoles. Five YLC-2 systems were delivered to Pakistan between 2003 and 2004; a mobile variant, the YLC-2V, operates in S-band (E/F band) with a smaller antenna for increased mobility (40-minute setup by six personnel) at the cost of elevation resolution, providing comprehensive target information including azimuth, range, altitude, and IFF attributes.
