Description

The Anvesh is a missile test range ship developed to meet the requirements of the Indian Navy and allowing for missiles tests in the Indian Ocean. The 9,000-ton ship has been designed to support tests of missiles with a maximum range of 1,500 kilometers minimizing the risk for the population compared with land-based missile tests. The ship is equipped with electro-optical (EO) tracking sensor, S-band radar and telemetry devices along a missile launch pad and mission control center. The Anvesh will support testing of torpedoes, surface-to-surface cruise missiles and Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) interceptors. The Indian Navy started sea trials of the Anvesh in September 2021 with the commissioning of the ship planned for November 2021.
