JLTV
JLTV
The original JLTV program family comprised five variants: the Combat Tactical Variant, the Command and Control Variant, the Utility Variant, the Light Infantry Squad Carrier Variant and the Reconnaissance Variant. The basic designs included armor and provisions to accommodate add-on armor to achieve higher levels of protection. It was said that more than 160,000 JLTVs were to be needed in the next 20 years to replace the Humvees. As of early 2008, the industry teams competing for the US military JLTV program were: AM General and General Dynamics; Lockheed Martin and Alcoa; Boeing and Textron; Northrop Grumman and Oshkosh; BAE Systems and Navistar International Corporation; and Force Protection and DRS Technologies.
