Description

The Yenisei is a super heavy rocket space launch system being developed by Russia for the exploration of the Moon. The new space rocket propulsion system will consists of a core system powered by a single RD-180 rocket engine plus six RD-171MB engines attached surrounding the central core stage. The Russian Space Agency Roscosmos selected the Energia Corporation to develop the new rocket in February 2019 with the final design expected by November 2019. The first launch of the Yenisei rocket is planned for 2028 to support lunar exploration. In September 2021, Roscosmos revealed that the new rocket will use methane engines and would be therefore reusable to lower costs.
