Bavar-2

The Bavar-2, 'Confidence-2' in English, is a small flarecraft, also known as Ekranoplan in Russia, developed by Iran under its weapons program started in 1992 as a response to the United States arms embargo. The craft operated by Iran's Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) is equipped with small caliber guns and can transmit data in support of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Basically, the radar-evading Bavar-2 is a flying boat outfitted with fixed-winged seaplane with a hull that allows it to land on water. They can fly at very low altitude close to the water with high speed like the Ekranoplans built by the former Soviet Union. It is powered by a single propeller that sits on the upper inner fuselage that allows operations in the air and water. The Bavar-2 made its first flight in 2009 and the first three squadrons were handed over to the IRGC in September 2010. It has not been disclosed whether the Bavar-2 craft can release anti-ship missiles and/or torpedoes.
