Mi-28NM
The Mi-28NM Super Hunter is an upgraded variant of the Russian Air Force Mi-28N night hunter attack helicopter. The Mi-28NM modernization program was cleared by the Russian Air Force in late 2008 and its existence was announced on December 26, 2008. The first prototype is expected to take to the air in 2009. The Mi-28NM improvements make the aircraft invulnerable to enemy fire through the addition of the latest composite material and the President-S advanced active defense system which can deflect all existing heat-seeking missiles. When the aircraft is illuminated by hostile radar the active defense system creates an invisible fire cloud surrounding the main rotor to deflect the incoming heat-seeking missiles. The helicopter is fitted with the NO25E circular-view radar which provides a dramatic improvement in terms of situational awareness. The Mi-28NM improved rotor blades will increase the top speed to 340 kilometers per hour. In August 2021 it was revealed that the Mi-28NM was being upgraded to control Corsair, Forpost and Orion drones with the Okhotnik to join in the near future at ranges of up to 50 kilometers.
