Phlox

The Russian Armed Forces 2S40 Phlox is a truck-mounted, high mobility 120mm self-propelled howitzer capable of operating as both a howitzer and a mortar gun system. The Phlox utilizes a modified Ural-4320 6x6 truck chassis with an armored cab to engage targets at a range between 100 meters and 13 kilometers. The gun can fire up to 10 mines per minute at a distance of 7.5 km and 8 projectiles per minute at an enemy located 13 km away. The crew of four-man (driver, commander, gun layer and loader) is protected inside the armored cab that is designed to withstand 7.62mm gunfire. This artillery system carries 80 120mm rounds with the cannon system featuring automatic firing mode and being able to rotate 360-degree to lock on to a target. For self-defense purposes the Phlox is equipped with a roof-mounted 7.62mm remotely operated machine gun. Defense against anti-tank guided missiles and other guided weapons is achieved through the Shtora jammer. The Phlox 120mm artillery system was revealed during the Army-2016 exhibition in September 2016.
