Korsar
Korsar

The Korsar is a tactical unmanned air vehicle (TUAV) developed in secrecy by Russia to conduct 24/7, all-weather surveillance missions as well as target acquisition, battle damage assessment and delivery of light cargoes. Besides, the Korsar air vehicle can be equipped with Ataka air-to-surface missions to conduct strike missions in support of infantry units and other military units. The aircraft is able to operate at a distance of up to 100 kilometers from its operating base. It was deployed successfully by the Russian Armed Forces in Syria between 2017 and 2018 where it was employed for the first time. Externally, the Korsar airframe is similar to the US Army’s RQ-7 Shadow 200 tactical air vehicle but with a bulky back section which may explain the longer range and increased specifications. The Korsar was showcased to the public during May 2018 military parade in Moscow.
