A109 LUH is powered by two Turbomeca Arrius 2K2 turboshaft engines rated at 711-shp each. These engines allow for better performance at hot climates and high altitude. HKP15 is the Swedish Army designation for A109 LUH. Swedish HKP15 are intended for training purposes. Sweden (20), South Africa (30) and Malaysia (11) have ordered the A109 LUH helicopter to date. As of September 2006, AgustaWestland had logged orders for 61 A109 LUH helicopters including those of Malaysia, Sweden and South Africa. In October 2003, the Malaysian Ministry of Defense ordered 11 A109 LOH (Low Observable Helicopter) helicopters, a version of A109 LUH, to conduct missions such as observation, tactical transport and area suppression. These helicopters are powered by Arrius 2K2 engines. The end customer for the A109 LOHs was the Malaysian Army Aviation. The first A109 LOH was delivered to Malaysia in December 2005 and the 11th and final helicopter in September 2006.
