Description
The Matador South African 4x4 Armored Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) is an armored personnel carrier (APC) and mine-protected vehicle that is produced by Paramount Group in South Africa. The vehicle was displayed for the first time in 2007, during the International Defense Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi. The Matador was officially launched the following year, at the 2008 African Aerospace and Defense Exhibition in Cape Town, South Africa. The Matador is the base variant of the family, it is an MRAP type platform designed to carry an infantry section for long distances in off-road and urban conditions.

The Matador is the base variant of the family, it is an MRAP type platform designed to carry an infantry section for long distances in off-road and urban conditions.
Marauder

Arlan

The Belrex 4 × 4 is a protected combat support vehicle (PCSV) based on the Marauder and produced by ST Kinetics and the Singaporean MoD (MINDEF). The Matador can provide ballistic protection in both the crew compartment and engine compartment (except grille) against 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm small arm ammunition.
Applique Armor
Available, The vehicle has blast protection of STANAG 4569 levels 3A and 3B standards (protection against 8 kg TNT beneath the hull and the wheel and 50 kg of TNT side blast). This could be increased to Level 4 standards with add-on kits. IED protection kits have also been developed and can be rapidly fitted to the vehicles.
