The Kh-25MAE features improved propulsion system, longer body fuselage, increased speed, improved guidance system and increased maximum launch altitude up to 12,000 meters compared to 5,000 meters on basic Kh-25 versions. It has been designed to hit a wide range of surface and ground small targets under adverse weather and day/night conditions at ranges from 2.5 to 40 kilometers. It can be released from both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Its guidance system combines the inertial navigation system with an active radar seeker. The Kh-25MAE missile is intended against targets such as small-tonnage ships, armor vehicles, aircrafts on the flying lanes, light fortifications, storages of ammunition and fuels, bridges, crossings, and parts of production facilities.
