Description

The US Army Long-Range Precision Fires (LRPF) program is intended at replacing the ATACMS tactical ballistic missile family with an affordable, faster, longer range, more powerful and smaller design. The new weapon is intended to provide a maximum range of 500 kilometers against fixed land targets after being fired from existing M270 MLRS and M142 HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. Raytheon announced its offer for the LRPF program in March 2016. The US Army aim is to field a missile system capable of hitting targets at ranges between 500 and 1,500 kilometers by 2030.
