MMSR-SYDERA

The MMSR-SYDERA is joint program between Rheinmetall, MBDA France, and Thales aimed to develop the new generation flexible vehicle-based mine clearance systems. The systems developed under this initiative will respond to three scenarios: 'fast route clearing' ahead of armored vehicle formations, 'sensitive clearing' in urban areas, and 'area clearing' similar to the sensitive clearing mode but to work on large areas. The MMSR-SYDERA team has identified five vehicles to meet the requirements of the clearing modes. These vehicles would be able to perform separately or combined to achieve the mine clearance goals. The five mine clearance vehicles are: the Smart Decoy Vehicle, Heavy Decoy Vehicle, Detection Vehicle, Verification Vehicle, and the Command and Control Vehicle. According to official plans, the MMSR-SYDERA close-in mine clearance systems demonstrators will be ready in Spring 2007.
