Stryker MSL
Stryker MSL
The Stryker Maneuver Short-range air defense Launcher (MSL) is a new variant developed by Boeing and General Dynamics Land Systems capable of firing both the Hellfire anti-tank missile and AIM-9X Sidewinder short-range surface-to-air missile. The Stryker MSL is fitted with an unmanned turret equipped with electro-optical sensors, two AIM-9X missiles and four Hellfire Missiles. The US Army may use the new Stryker variant to counter the threat posed by unmanned air vehicles (UAVs), helicopters and cruise missiles. Besides, the Stryker MSL would be able to engage armored vehicles on the ground. The new short-range air defense system was demonstrated successfully in late 2017. Up to 144 Stryker MSL vehicles will be procured by the US Army beginning in 2019.
