Flycatcher
The Flycatcher is a missile defense radar system manufactured by Hollandse Signaalapparaten, designed for air defense fire control with tanks, guns, and missiles. It integrates two radars for acquisition and tracking, operating at a frequency of 9,200 MHz in the I-band with a pulse repetition frequency of 4,800 Hz, a pulsewidth of 0.2 µs, and a peak power of 160 kW. The system has an instrumented range of 20 km, a range resolution of 30 m, and a beamwidth of 1.1°, with the antenna rotating at 40 revolutions per minute. The search radar utilizes a 1.5-meter slotted waveguide antenna, co-axially deployed with a parabolic dish antenna, and its transmitter uses a magnetron; in some configurations, this transmitter also powers the tracking radar, while other versions feature a separate K-band transmitter for tracking. Both antennas have independent receivers, with the tracking radar antenna positioned at the center/front turret and the search radar antenna mounted at the rear/top turret. An integrated TV tracking system with an optical zoom of 30-300 mm further enhances the Flycatcher's capabilities.
