Description

The Protected Vehicles Alpha is a 4x4 light protected vehicle designed for use on- and off-road environments carrying out missions in support of asymmetric warfare. The 8 to 13 tons class vehicle has a seating capacity for eight passengers. The Alpha is a direct competitor and a potential replacement for up-armored Humvees used by military customers. Besides, the Alpha is also suitable for diplomatic, VIP and other security related agencies in high risk areas where light armored vehicles can no longer meet the threats present. Add-on armor kit called ShiledAll provides ballistic protection against .50 caliber armor piercing (AP) rounds. The United States Marine Corps awarded the first production order for the Alpha light protected vehicle on February 28, 2007. The contract was issued as part of the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) initiative launched in support of the Global War on Terror (GWOT). The contract called for the production of 60 Alpha and Golan light and medium protected vehicles.
