JTPS-P14

The JTPS-P14 is a long-range air surveillance radar operating in the S-band (IEEE designation) or E/F-band (NATO designation), designed for detecting targets at medium and high altitudes with an instrumented range of 400 km. It features a rotating phased array antenna that utilizes electronic beam steering for elevation control, and which folds onto the container roof for transport. The system, which includes a separate power supply container, became operational in 1988, replacing the aging JTPS-P5 two-dimensional radars used by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
